Anne Michals Scholarship Fund
This is the Alumni Foundation's oldest scholarship, dating back into the mid 1990's. In 2019, it was renamed after a beloved former Manasquan BOE President, Anne Michals. To qualify, graduating seniors submit an essay to the Guidance Department describing how their leadership ability developed as a student at MHS. Last year, ten students were chosen and each received a $1,000.00 award.
MHS Hall Of Fame Coaches Scholarship
In 2019, several MHS Alumni approached the MHS Alumni Board of Trustees seeking to start a scholarship honoring their former MHS coaches. Manasquan High School's Athletic Director, in consultation with all MHS varsity coaches, chooses the awardees.

Oliver Chamberlain Manasquan High School Alumni Scholarship Award
The award, in the name of Oliver Chamberlain, was established in 2026, in recognition of Manasquan High School alumnus Oliver Chamberlain, who during high school played principal trumpet in the band, double bass in the orchestra and sang in the mixed chorus. He studied double bass with Edward Jones, who had studied with the principal bass of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. Ed was a skilled bass player and teacher. Oliver played next to him in the Monmouth Symphony Orchestra and Ed directed to Oliver those pop and jazz gigs for which he already had dates. That resulted in Oliver, during high school, playing gigs from Asbury Park to Point Pleasant in the many hotels and clubs and being given a work card at age 16 in the American Federation of Musicians Chapter 399, of Asbury Park, NJ.
Oliver went on to study bass at New England Conservatory of Music in Boston with the principal bass of the Boston Symphony Orchestra earning a Bachelor of Music degree (BM). At the Conservatory, he became interested in conducting and earned a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting (MM). His graduate lecture/recital required some research in the history of the works performed by the chorus of Commonwealth School, Boston, where he taught.
The research for his recital and his founding/directing of a professional vocal/instrumental ensemble in Boston that performed a number of concerts at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston led to further research in music history at Brandeis University for which he earned a Master of Fine Arts degree (MFA), and to the University of Michigan for post-graduate studies in musicology. He next became music history chair and co-chair of the Department of Music Composition and History in the College of Musical Arts at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. On sabbatical from Bowling Green he earned a Master of Arts degree (MA) in arts management at American University, in Washington, DC. He next was appointed Executive Director of the Center for the Arts at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where he presented national and international artists in music, dance and theater and Young Concert Artists in recitals and master classes. He was elected President of New England Presenters, a consortium of college, community and university arts presenters. He has retired, still writes and has been nominated to Who’s Who in American for his contributions to music.
